Recovery and Travel: The Recovery Road at Anna Jean Cummings Park In Soquel, California

The family and I took a day trip to the Santa Cruz area this past week and we were pleasantly surprised to find this hidden treasure - The Road to Recovery, in Anna Jean Cummings Park in Soquel, CA.

The Road To Recovery installation is a group of brick sized plaques with encouraging words about recovery written on them.  The authors of these plaques are young people that have struggled with addiction and have been successfully rehabilitated. The young people that participated in the project wrote short poems or statements in an attempt to persuade other young people not to get involved with drugs or alcohol and to make healthier choices.

Where To Find It:

The installation is tucked up the hill from an amazing playground (my 6 year old rates the slides a 10 out of ten). There is an open grassy area for soccer, baseball, and picnicking. The path that circles this area is where you will find these bricks.  Some of them are difficult to find as the grass hides them well so have fun hunting for them.

Below are pictures of my favorite bricks.
