Teetotally Awesome Practices: Change Your Response To Negative Thinking

There are always going to be times in your life where you think and feel negative thoughts, and the goal isn’t to get rid of all these negative things. The goal is to change YOUR response to them.

  1. Write down the negative thoughts that pop into your head.
  2. Come up with the positive thoughts you want to think instead.
  3. The next time that negative thought pops up, catch yourself, and replace it with your new positive thought.
Instead of, “Nobody likes me, “ think “The right people like me.”
Instead of, “I hate people,” think “They aren’t my vibe.
Instead of, “I’m behind, “ think “I’m on my own timeline.”

Think of what you need to hear in the moment.

And this is really important, changing your mindset is a process, not an event.  It will require practice each and everyday for the rest of your life.

Yes there will be times that you forget, or you get caught up in negative thinking patterns.  That’s ok- just keep trying.
